Your Fathers, Where Are They? And the Prophets, Do They Live Forever? by Dave Eggers

While I really enjoyed The Circle, Your Fathers, Where Are They? And the Prophets, Do They Live Forever? on the other hand, was a bit of a mixed bag for me.

The main character, Thomas’ first kidnapping sounds reasonable enough, his reasons for doing so, the questions he posits. But after awhile, and with each subsequent kidnapping, you kind of get the feeling that Thomas is not as sane as he first appears to be. And towards the end right there, you definitely know he’s not the least bit sane at all.

I found all the other characters not particularly likeable either. They’re ok for the most part, but there wasn’t anyone in particular I found myself rooting for. In the end, I just wanted the story to be over and done with.

Don’t get me wrong, the story is well written and offers a unique perspective on things. I just didn’t enjoy it all that much.
