Since I watched one movie with Emma Thompson, I thought I’d keep the ball rolling with Late Night, a movie about a long-time late night talk show host who finds herself becoming irrelevant in an age of social media and trashy comedy.
Emma Thompson is Katherine Newbury, and Mindy Kaling is Molly, a chemical plant worker who decides to try out for the job as the sole woman writer on Newbury’s theme and, out of desperation by team, gets hired.
It’s quite an intelligent movie with lots of humour and very human elements as well. It tugged at my heartstrings more than once and I am glad for darkened cabins during flights as well as individual seats that hide you from the world. I really must be getting old!
