House of Lies, season 4-5

Thankfully. despite my hiatus from this series, it was pretty easy to get back into House of Lies again. Time has obviously passed, what with Marty being in prison and Jeannie being super pregnant with ‘Edwin’s’ kid, except who she really means is Marty. Kaan & Associates are struggling, Marty wants Jeannie out once they seal a major deal, and Monica is still the evil b*tch ex-wife.

Yup, it’s the same old, same old. Except, in the case of House of Lies, the same old, same old is great and still a heckuva lot of fun to watch. From apps, to weed, to party ships, to social media, to TED Talks and even boybands, with a tiny dash of politics (and D&D) thrown in, the team at K&A have a lot on their hands to deal with. And wheel and deal them they did – although not necessarily always winning.

This is my final H series to watch before moving on to the next letter in line (skipping I, by the way), and as with most of the rest I watched this year, the show is over, gone, cancelled, ended, nada. And it’s a little sad to watch Marty and gang go in a finale episode that was almost revelatory and happy and unlike their typical episodes but still fitting nonetheless. Although I did wish his son and dad were there to join in the festivities.

Let me leave you with the wise words of Marty Kaan, “Oh my God, I’ve got to needlepoint that on my pillow.”
