Hollywood has adapted many true stories with embellishments and dramatisation to give it more impact. Deepwater Horizon, however, sticks to the story and I think that made it all the more powerful. There’s no hero, no plot, no dramatic reveal – because that is not what happened. Sure it made use of special effects, but imagine that it was all real – because it was, for the people who were there. The movie frightened me, affected me, maybe because I know people in that industry, and I can’t imagine how the event impacted those who do that work on a daily basis. A really, really good watch.
